Frequently Asked Questions

Can I copy, distribute and modify materials from the site for classroom use?

Yes. The materials on the site are designed for educational use. Please feel free to copy, distribute and modify any of the materials to suit your classroom needs. Power point (ppt) and Microsoft word (doc) and excel (xls) files have been included so that they can be modified by teachers. Please note that copyright is attributed to the Physics and Astronomy Outreach Program at the University of British Columbia.

What software do I need to view the resources on your site?

All of the resources on this site can be opened with both Open Office (Writer, Calc or Impress) and with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, or PowerPoint). Open Office is free software and is available for download here.

What if I am having trouble downloading resources from the website?

Occasionally resources freeze when they are downloading. This may be related to a website server issue that we hope will be resolved soon. Often if you return to the site later, the document will download. If a document wonโ€™t download it isnโ€™t because the link is broken or that the document isnโ€™t available yet.

Why are curriculum connections made to the provincial curriculum in British Columbia, Canada?

The resources on this site were developed by faculty at the University of British Columbia in consultation with physics instructors from across the province of British Columbia. The effort is funded by a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. In the future we hope to connect resources to Pan-Canadian curriculum across Canada.
